The highest individual score in a tournament game of English-language Scrabble has been 850 since 2012 (https://wespa.org/aardvark/html/alltime_stats.html).

Will anyone score more than that in an officially rated game before the end of 2030? For this to resolve YES, his must happen in a game where

  • both players are rated at least 1000 going into the tournament (or the equivalent in the respective organisation, e.g. 100 in ABSP ratings)

  • one of the players must be rated at least 1500 (see above)

  • there is no evidence that the game was thrown / manipulated on purpose.

The game must happen in tournament play sanctioned by some national or international Scrabble organisation (i. e. WESPA, NASPA, ABSP, CoCo, WGPO etc.). The specific word list used doesn't matter. Scoring errors and invalid words on the board also don't affect the result. If it is recorded as such by the respective organisation, it counts.
