Anything is better than FPTP, but RCV is the worst alternative voting method. It's hard to evaluate, impossible to give intermediate results and getting ranked higher can lead to losing.

@Enlil Which is the best, in your opinion?

@BlueDragon I personally like STAR voting the best. It feels more expressive than Approval (in the end this doesn't matter much for the outcome in aggregate), is very easy to evaluate and fill in. Just tell people it's like rating movies on IMDB or restaurants on Yelp and they'll get it. Unlike RCV there is no discrepancy between how intuitive voting and the count are.

I think Approval is a fabulous choice as well. It's trivial to evaluate and you can use existing ballot formats which safes money. The downside is it doesn't feel as expressive but at the end of the day does an excellent job at capturing voter sentiment.

Both approaches also strongly driver towards consensus or compromise candidates which IMO is more needed than anything.

This is a fabulous tool to play around with methods and scenarios: https://ncase.me/ballot/
