So far we have 3 staff presumably not bothered and no statement from the others against it (they probably know about it by now)

predicted NO

To anyone who was betting yes, have you actually followed manifold staff responses to controversies?

predicted YES

@ShadowyZephyr Honestly, I don't know how any of this works.

If The Crew decides that shitposting is indeed tanking their future options and they have to peg it down a notch or two, I want the people who supported them also be beneficiaries of that decision instead of punishing them for lack of faith and voting NO.

And if they wouldn't... I'm not sure I would want to belong here anyway.

I think this kind of thing is pretty funny to happen once in a while! Definitely don't want self-referential games to be the main thing Manifold is known for, but in this case I especially appreciate the effort @CodeandSolder went to in order to set this up and make it a good & fun experience for participants (eg writing a bot to automate the action).

predicted YES

@Austin This could've waited until frontpage mechanics are implemented. Currently it is hogging common resource of attention-worthy items.

Manifold Feature Idea: Pigouvian tax on shitposting

No reaction from most of the staff yet, but 2 staff have bet NO on this market.

@ShadowyZephyr that's a shame. They risk entrenching shitposting and driving away real stuff until only shitposting remains.

predicted NO

@ICRainbow I'm generally on your side but this one's funny lol

predicted NO

@CodeandSolder Creator bias.

predicted NO

@ICRainbow Don’t care just got paid out 5 Mana 😎😎😎

predicted NO

@ShadowyZephyr no, I made plenty garbage to mid tier shitposts lol

predicted NO

@ICRainbow There’s a gray area between happily allowing shitposting and not having fun ever, under any circumstance. I think this is ok as long as we don’t get flooded by shitposting.

predicted YES

@Denial the problem is that we, currently, are flooded with #fun posts, so to speak.

Even blocking left and right isn't working and occasionally one or another ussy ends up on my screen.

If they do, it would be extremely odd to me, considering their previous actions and decisions.

I think the Ponzi markets may get tagged as non-predictive, because they are not predictive, but nothing wrong is being done here.

predicted NO

Non-predictive wouldn't do anything, would it? Bounties don't count for league points iirc.

predicted NO

@Joshua the toggle isn't even there for bounties, and they already don't count for anything lol

Could somebody explain what was going on?

@KongoLandwalker Great investment opportunity, let your mana work for you

predicted YES

@MrLuke255 at the expense of those who have to swim in this pool to find genuine markets

@ICRainbow It's a truly unregulated free market

It's sufficiently harmless and in good fun, considering they ran a dollar auction I don't think they're above the occasional financial shitpost

predicted YES

I believe they're still in Peurto Rico:

Now I'm just imagining them meeting new people as they travel, telling them to check our their cool forecasting charity app, and they load up the front page to see...

@Joshua Triangles are not the strongest shape. Hexagons are the bestagons.

predicted YES

@Sailfish While I'm not opposed to fun and only somewhat opposed to "will I fart before 2040" stuff, the non-existent curation and barely-working filtering taking the signal-to-noise ratio below the "I want to be here" level. Pacifism/gardens, evaporative cooling of communities, etc.
