At least some work must have started and project must be funded and on track
Connecting each sides mainland, not small islands
(Although stopovers or steps at islands are fine)
You'll be able to travel above water not flying between the countries
Update 2025-03-23 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Inclusion of Pre-Existing Infrastructure:
Connections using pre-existing links (such as bridges connecting islands to a mainland) are allowed when establishing a connection between the two mainlands.
The entire project does not need to be new, as long as a continuous link between the mainlands is achieved.
Does Anglesey count as a small island or is that large? Or is that ok as Anglesey already connected by bridge to mainland?
I am betting no thinking a tunnel is more likely and even that probably prohibitively expensive. More traffic/revenue for Eurotunnel, which is shorter and cheaper and faster to build but that went bust. Underground makeup is better for tunnelling but I doubt that helps much.
@ChristopherRandles yes, if you can get between mainlands via already legitimately connected (by market rules) smaller islands, that's okay. No requirement that the entire thing all be new.
