This question is seeking to probe whether Xi will essentially be the paramount leader of China until his death. It's possible that he would occupy neither of these offices but still be paramount leader, but that is a nebulous and less attractive market to run.

Note that I have not included the most commonly used of Xi's titles: President of the PRC. I think it's fair to say that if Xi in the future is only President and not Chairman or General Secretary there is a high likelihood he has become a figurehead.
