A bill is due to pass that will require parental consent for social media companies like Meta, TikTok and Snap to use algorithms to "steer content" for children.

This effectively would require apps to either get parental consent (how?) to use the app, to have an algorithm that the state approves, or just to exit the New York market.

An implementation would resolve Yes if any of these things happen
major social networks start geo-location tagging in New York state for teens and either disables the app or restricts it for teens (beyond pornography or adult content)
if the social networks make a formal deal with New York State that is announced by them publicly
one or more major social network exits New York State

If nothing happens, the market will resolve No.

Also if the algorithms for everyone are changed for New York's satisfaction, the market will resolve No. The resolution or product reaction has to be "under 18" only, specifically or implicitly related to algorithms for teen users and/or parental consent.

The New York "protect kids against social media" bill has passed and signed into law.

This does not mean that the law will go into effect, have any effect on social media companies, or make any sense. But it has been passed....
