Resolution Criteria

This market resolves to YES if any club that is part of the USL's new first division league (launching in 2027) appears in the top 20 of a credible global ranking of the most valuable soccer clubs (such as Forbes or Deloitte) at any point before January 1, 2050. Otherwise, it resolves to NO.

Background

  • The United Soccer League (USL) is launching a new Division One league in 2027, which will operate alongside the existing USL Championship and USL League One, creating a three-tier system with promotion and relegation.

  • This new league aims to capitalize on growing soccer interest in the U.S., partly fueled by the 2025 Club World Cup, 2026 World Cup, and 2028 Olympics.

  • Currently, the world's most valuable soccer clubs are predominantly European teams with long histories and massive global followings. As of recent valuations, clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich typically dominate the top positions -- though there are two MLS clubs (LAFC & Inter Miami) that have already made it to the top 20.

  • The USL's new league will compete directly with Major League Soccer (MLS), which has established itself as the premier professional soccer league in the U.S.
