For the question to resolve "YES" a Starship must receive propellant from another spacecraft:

  • A test counts.

  • Any amount of propellant transferred counts.

  • It must survive the refuelling.

There's some mention that for the first tests, they'll do an "internal propellant transfer", so with just one Starship. For example, they'll try transfering from the main tanks to the header tanks. This would be a test but I assume it doesn't count for this market?

predicts YES

@Mqrius Oh, interesting. Yeah, the question is about external refuelling since an internal transfer does not help with flight economics

@lukres Yeah, the test would mostly be about verifying that they can settle the propellant and use pressure differences or Gforces to get the propellant to transfer. But when they do it, it would be the first solid step towards orbital propellant transfer.

@Mqrius Apparently planned for the next test flight already

predicts YES

@lukres That will be an internal transfer between the header tank and the main tank of a single Starship, actually. That's not from one vehicle to another so it wouldn't count yet. But yes, exciting development!

@Mqrius Of course, I was referring to your comment
