Parisian universities have been merging into larger ones, mostly to game the Shanghai ranking. Will this trend continue to its obvious conclusion, the formation of one huge "University of Paris"?

Resolves Yes if, before Nov 2027, the following universities (or their direct successors through change of name, fusion or restructuration) have formally merged:

  • Paris Saclay

  • Sorbonne university

  • Dauphine

  • Pantheon Sorbonne (Paris 1)

  • Pantheon Assas

  • Paris cité

  • Paris Nanterre

  • Versailles

  • Gustave Eiffel

  • Sorbonne nouvelle (Paris 3)

  • Cergy

  • Créteil

  • Paris Nord

  • Vincennes Saint Denis (Paris 8)

  • Évry

This deliberately excludes "Grandes écoles".

In case of ambiguity, I might dicuss in the comment, temporarily halt trading, and even resolve N/A. I welcome suggestions on resolution criteria if expressed well in advance of the resolving event.

Wow how many have already merged? This sounds wild.

@Ernie Paris-Saclay is the fusion of 3 separate entities, Sorbonne universite and Paris-Cité both are fusion of two 2. The Shanghai ranking has been invoked explictly for these mergers. Most of the others are singles.

TBH all of them merging would be a bit on the nose, except maybe on a direct order from the government (these are public-ish), so this more clowning on the phenomenon that real forecast.

@CamillePerrin This will never happen. In fact I would expect some schisms before any more massive mergers happen.
