Full brain scan means every single neuron and every connection in full detail. The mammal in question can be any small mammalian animal - only requirement is that it's not a worm or insect or anything else.

I would do it with an x-ray laser scanning one 0.5nm x 0.5nm x 5cm slice of the brain at a time. It would take a while.

predicts YES

Why is this market closing on Jan 1, 2024?

@AlekseyVoropaev Extended to 2028 DEC

predicts YES

@MikiyasTsegaye Okay, I am definitely missing something. Why is market about "by 2030" closing in 2029?

How close are we right now? What are the current blockers?

@DavidChee Not close to mammalian brains. I think they’ve tried worms with uncertain/bad results. The technology is based on slicing the brain, scanning each slice with high res microscopes, then reconstructing in software by reconnecting the slices and instantiating the full brain in a 3D model. Every step is hard and it’s not clear that EVEN in theory that it would lead to a functioning brain simulation.
