Regular reusable rocket deliveries— absolutely!

Whether hand-written letters still exist? Seems less likely, and might be completely reframed as scanned / reprinted letters at either earth or moon stations, perhaps with choice of medium (glossy, matte vellum) and ai-assisted calligraphy for special occasions..

What, if anything, distinguishes this from monthly resupply ships bringing other consumables?

Does the recipient need to be an individual, rather than a governmental org?

If the sender must sign a contract, have a 3-month lead time, and pay $10K/kg to have the item delivered, is that okay? Or is there some "ease of use" threshold that applies for it to count as postal service?

Does it have to be paper mail, or we're really talking about package delivery, with letters being just one subcategory?

Edit: also, can this only resolve in 2080? Personally, I think we're going to build a moon base, but will likely have abandoned it by 2080. So would monthly trips while the base is being built count, so long as there were personal packages being included?

@DanHomerick i think a postal service would mean people stationed on the moon can use it for personal OR commercial use (mail/packages) not just military or governmental purposes

Some questions about what defines a postal service

1) Does it need to be government operated, or would FedEx/UPS delivery service count

2) Does it need some equivalent of home delivery with letter carriers, or would pickup from a central depot be acceptable

3) Is there some cost constraint for it to be considered a postal service

does not need to be home-picked up, it could have a letter drop-off point on the moon
it can be subsidized partially or fully
